Just ASK!
What is Google Earth "Trips in Time"?
Google Earth "Trips in Time" is a great new way to integrate literature and social studies. Janie has always wanted to share more of her research with teachers and readers of her books, but was limited by the publishing of traditional books.
Using the FREE Google Earth download and Janie's "Trips in Time" tours, you can now travel across the ocean, follow the routes of the fur traders, explorers, and lumberjacks, and read information provided by primary source documents. It is a great way to share the social studies, literature, and technology component in your classroom, and better yet, it is all free!
How to get started?
It is really very simple!
- First check with your tech person to make sure you can use Google Earth on your computer (sometimes Firewalls an Filters prohibit the use of GE) and also make sure you can receive KMZ files through your email account. (This is sometimes and issue but rarely.)
- Next, DOWNLOAD your free Google Earth Account at http://earth.google.com/intl/en_us/download-earth.html Google Earth is a great educational tool and fun to use. If you are new to Google Earth, go to the tutorials and have fun learning.
